INTRODUCTION
.................................................................................................................................

The main interest of the laboratory of Physiology / Neurobiology of Biology Department is related to plasticity mechanism underlying the normal development of the brain. In addition, models of epigenetic influences are studied, such as learning and memory, sexual differentiation in brain function and hormonal effects, optic nerve trauma, and hypertension.
CURRENT RESEARCH TOPICS
..................................................................................................................................
RESEARCH TOOLS
.................................................................................................................................

The methodological approaches involve studies in cell cycle, cell migration, apoptosis, characterization of cell types with specific markers and expression of neurotransmitter receptors. Immunocytochemical, cytochemical, in vitro and in vivo quantitative autoradiographic techniques are applied and data analysis is performed with image analysis and stereological methods.
